Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in the Capital

Your journey begins in New Delhi, the historic heart of India. Arrive at the international airport where our representative welcomes you. Transfer to your hotel to rest and recover from your travels, preparing for the wilderness that awaits. Overnight in New Delhi.

Twilight descends on the ancient city of Delhi.

Day 2: The Gateway to the East

We fly to Guwahati, the gateway to the Northeast. Leave the chaos behind as we drive towards Nameri, a sanctuary where the Himalayas meet the plains. The air changes, becoming crisp and filled with the scent of wet earth. Tonight, we rest under a canopy of stars, listening to the nocturnal symphony of the Brown Hawk Owl and Nightjars.

Day 3: Drifting on Crystal Waters

Awaken to the call of the wild. Today, we drift. A gentle rafting experience on the Jia Bhoroli river offers a unique perspective of the forest. Look for the Ibisbill on the stony banks and the Long-billed Plover. In the afternoon, we tread softly through the forest trails, seeking the Great Pied Hornbill and the vibrant colors of the forest canopy.

The serene waters of the Jia Bhoroli.

Day 4: The Phantom of the Woods

A quest for the elusive. We venture deep into the forest pools of Nameri in search of the White-Winged Duck, a spirit of these waters. Along the way, stumble upon the Green Magpie, the Blue Bearded Bee-eater, and perhaps the shy Green Cochoa. It is a day of patience and wonder, rewarded by nature's hidden gems.

Day 5: Into the Realm of the Rhino

We leave the foothills for the floodplain. The journey to Kaziranga is a passage through time. As we arrive, the tall elephant grass whispers tales of giants. After a traditional Assamese lunch, we take our first jeep safari. The silhouette of a Rhino against the setting sun is a memory that will etch itself into your soul.

A prehistoric giant in the golden mist.

Day 6: Mist and Giants

Kaziranga reveals itself in layers. Marshes, woodlands, and grasslands create a mosaic of life. We search for the Big Five, but also for the winged wonders: the Pallas's Fish Eagle, the rare Finn's Weaver, and the Great Hornbill. The forest is alive with the calls of the wild, a prehistoric landscape that feels untouched by time.

Day 7: The Call of the Hoolock

Our journey continues eastwards to the Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary. This is a sanctuary of sound. As we arrive, listen for the distinct whooping call of the Hoolock Gibbon, India's only ape. We walk the forest trails, eyes cast upwards, seeking the acrobats of the canopy.

The canopy comes alive with the song of the Gibbon.

Day 8: Walking with Ancestors

A full day dedicated to the primates. Apart from the Hoolock Gibbon, we look for the Stump-tailed Macaque, the Capped Langur, and the Malayan Giant Squirrel. It is a humbling experience to watch these intelligent beings in their natural home, a reminder of our own deep connection to the wild.

Day 9: Where Rivers Meet

We bid farewell to the Gibbons and move towards the mighty Brahmaputra's embrace at Dibru Saikhowa. We transfer to a heritage tea bungalow, a relic of a bygone era, surrounded by lush tea gardens. The evening is spent soaking in the tranquility of the tea country.

Day 10: The Floating Forest

Dibru Saikhowa is a water world. We explore by boat and on foot. This unique habitat of wetlands and riverine forests is home to the Feral Horses and the Asiatic Wild Water Buffalo. Birders will delight in the chance to spot the Black-breasted Parrotbill, the Jerdon's Babbler, and the Marsh Babbler in these untouched grasslands.

Day 11: The Amazon of the East

Our final wilderness frontier is Dihing Patkai, the 'Amazon of the East'. This rainforest is a jewel of biodiversity. We walk beneath towering trees, looking for the elusive Clouded Leopard, the Golden Cat, and the many primate species that call this dense jungle home. It is a fitting finale to our wildlife odyssey.

Sunlight pierces the canopy of the rainforest.

Day 12: Memories of the Mist

We begin our return journey. A morning drive takes us to Dibrugarh airport, carrying with us the sounds, sights, and soul of Assam. We fly to New Delhi, transitioning from the wild back to civilization, but changed forever by what we have seen. Overnight in New Delhi.

Day 13: Homeward Bound

After a restful night in New Delhi, we transfer to the international airport. As you board your flight home, you take with you not just photographs, but the spirit of the wild – the call of the Gibbon, the gaze of the Rhino, and the mist of the river.
